Hello, I’m Helen!

I was born in Rotherham and am proud to call it home. Before I was ordained, I was a secondary English Teacher and loved encouraging young people as they learned, grew and discovered their gifts and talents.

I love Jesus and want everyone to know the amazing love of God.
My heart is to see our communities transformed; each person knowing how valuable they are to God and living life to the full for the good of all.

I love learning, I love the Bible, I love worshipping God in song and in everyday life. Church is just what we call it when we gather together with others to do that.

When I’m not working I enjoy horse riding, sewing, walking, reading a good book or watching a good series or film.

Curate at St Leonard’s, Thrybergh and St Francis, Bramley

I joined St Leonard’s, Thrybergh as Curate in 2024, serving alongside St Francis, Bramley. It’s been a real privilege to become part of these church communities, and I love helping people explore the Christian faith.

I grew up in Rugby before moving to Sheffield to study Biblical Studies at the University of Sheffield, where I met my wife, Gail. After training and working as a primary school teacher in Leicester for 11 years, we returned to South Yorkshire, where I trained for ordained ministry.

Gail and I have two children and family life keeps us happily busy. I enjoy teaching the Bible, encouraging people in their faith, and seeing our churches become places where everyone feels welcome and able to encounter Jesus.

When I’m not involved in church life, you’ll usually find me reading, enjoying sport, spending time outdoors with my family, or asking questions – I love learning and good conversation!
