What to expect:
Our services are relaxed and informal, and usually last about an hour. When you arrive you’ll be greeted at the door, and if you have any questions you can ask them straight away. Most services involve a mixture of singing songs of worship, praying together, reading the bible, and listening to a talk. You won’t be asked to do or say anything you don’t want to: and you’re perfectly welcome to come in, grab a seat, and simply watch what’s going on.
After the service there are refreshments: hot and cold drinks, and a variety of sweet treats. There’s often a chance to receive prayer from our ministry team, too. People normally hang about for quite a while to chat and we’d love to get to know you too – please don’t feel you have to rush off.
We want everyone at St Leonard’s to feel that they belong. If you have questions or concerns, or want to let us know about specific needs you might have which would make worship possible for you, please do get in touch.
You’re always welcome to pass by and see what’s happening. No pressure. Be as anonymous as you like.
Common Worship Services take place every Sunday at 10am, with Holy Communion, hymns, a sermon and a dedicated play space for children.
There’s also a monthly informal afternoon service on the fouth Sunday of every month at 4pm. This service is informal and interactive, with singing, games, conversation and prayer in a relaxed atmosphere.
Children are very welcome here! They can stay in the main worship area and we like them to be involved during the service. There’s also a dedicated play space within the church if you’d prefer.
Yes. We have wheelchair access, a disabled toilet, and a sound system that makes it easier to hear. The building is over a thousand years old, with traditional pews, but we work hard to make it into a comfortable space for everyone. There is a small step to get into the building, which most wheelchair users can negotiate. Smaller-wheeled mobility scooters may find this more difficult, but we’re always happy to help you!
We recommend you aim to arrive about fifteen minutes before the service starts, so that you can get settled and find a good seat.
Whatever you feel comfortable in – there’s no dress code.
St Leonard’s is on the small stretch of Doncaster Road between School Road and Back Lane and it is not visible from the road when you are close to it, but you will be able to see the church sign at the top of the drive. You will need to park on the Doncaster Road, or on a nearby side road. The postcode is S65 4HN.
There’s no charge! We usually take a collection at most of our services. However, this is really designed to encourage our regular members to help support the running costs of the church, but this isn’t something we want our visitors to worry about. Please don’t feel you have to give anything when you visit.
St Leonard’s Church building has a fully accessible toilet on the ground floor.
